IIHSA Travel Bursaries 2025: Congratulations to our awardees

Congratulations to our three travel bursary winners and our warmest thanks to the Greek Irish Society and to Jason O’Brien for generously continuing to sponsor these student awards

Meet our three awardees, Jessica, Marc and Mia, who will all be coming to the Institute in Athens in the coming months to explore the sites, museums and research libraries and to meet and network with fellow researchers.

Jessica Doherty is a master’s student in Classics at University College Dublin. Her thesis is on ‘Women and Violence in Defence of the Oikos within Greek Tragedy: An Analysis of Euripides’ Medea and Hecuba’ (Greek Irish Society Travel Bursary)

Marc Martucci Morris is a PhD student in Archaeology at University College Dublin.  His academic background is in Mediterranean, landscape and environmental archaeology and his  research project is called ‘Constructing Messapian Flavorscapes: between seas and spheres’. Mia Pancotti is a PhD student in Classics at Trinity College Dublin. Her project while in Athens will be ‘Graphic Layouts in Ancient Greece: Some Case Studies’ as part of her doctoral thesis ‘A Cognitive Model for Reading in Ancient Greece’. (Jason O’Brien Travel Bursary)
